Children's Health Insurance Programs (CHIP)

Children's Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) are state programs supported by federal funds that provide the children (usually up to age 19) of families that fall within published low-income guidelines with health insurance coverage at little or no cost to the child's family. The eligible child must be a state resident and a U.S. Citizen. In some sates, qualified immigrants are eligible.

CHIP usually covers preventive care such as routine well-child exams, dental, and vision as well as comprehensive major medical services and prescription drugs.

Premiums are usually nominal or free. Co-payments and coinsurance doesn't amount as much either.

Kids Care membership generally renews semi-annually or annually. Members can by re-qualify by completing an eligibility form.
