Uninsured children qualify for the Delaware Healthy Children Program if they have no health insurance and are a resident of Delaware. Applicants must be less than 19 years old and U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen. The applicant's family income needs to fall within the income guidelines.
Qualified applicants must wait six months for health coverage to start.
Healthy Children covers:
- Office visits and Immunizations
- Well-child visits, and routine exams
- In-Patient Hospital Care
- Prescription drugs
- X-rays and diagnostic labs
- Speech therapy
- Mental health counseling
- Physical therapy
- Emergency and ambulance
Coventry/Delaware Care and First State Health Plan offer the Healthy Children coverage
Monthly premiums range between $10 and $25 per month. There are no co-payments for covered services including prescription drugs.
Members are covered for 12 months at a time. Prior to renewal, members must reapply to re-establish eligibility for another 12-month term.
