South Dakota Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

CHIP

CHIP is for uninsured state residents under the age of 19. They must also be U.S. citizens or or legal residents. The applicant's family income must fall within posted  income guidelines. Waiting periods of up to 3 months may apply for applicants that had group health insurance previously.

CHIP covers:

  • Doctor Visits
  • Hospital Care
  • Dental and Vision
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Mental Health

Most members will have no monthly premiums and no co-payments.

Enrollment is continuous but subject to annual review.
