Nebraska Health Insurance Risk Pool

Nebraska Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool (CHIP)

Plans

  • PPO plan with a choice of 9 deductibles from $500 to $10,000. All have 20% coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum of $1,500 after deductible
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) qualified plan also available.

Standard Eligibility

  • Nebraska resident for at least six months
  • Medically declined for private health insurance coverage in the last six months
  • Offered private health insurance with a restrictive rider limiting or excluding a pre-existing medical condition
  • Offered private health insurance at a higher rate than comparable NCHA coverage
  • Have a medical condition listed by NCHA

HIPPA Eligibility

  • Uninsured Nebraska resident
  • Covered for 18 continuous months on a group health plan
  • Exhausted COBRA coverage and the premium for the premium for the continuation coverage is higher than comparable NCHA coverage
