Assurant Health Insurance

Assurant Health is an new name for an old company. The parent company, Fortis (a European based financial services company) has been around since 1892. In 2004, Fortis spun off Assurant Health as a separate company for the United States health insurance market. To further confuse, Time Insurance Company, a sister company, underwrites all insurance plans marketed by Assurant Health. Together they insure in excess of 1 million people in the U.S.. Assurant provides individual and family health insurance, small group health plans, short-term and student health insurance plans. Consumer-focused products such as Health Savings Accounts (HSA)and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA). Assurant Health Insurance is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, and has about 2,800 employees nationwide.
